UNHCR establishes warehouses in southern Syria

Convoys of relief supplies crossed the Jordan-Syrian border and reached the southern Syrian city of Al-Suwaidaa where they will be placed at newly-built warehouses of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
The UNCHR chief in Syria, Tareq Al-Kurdi, expressed satisfaction in a statement on Sunday for being allowed to deliver the supplies in Al-Suwaidaa, rather than taking the long road to Damascus, as the agency used to do previously before the Syrian Government relieved it of compulsory delivery of the aid in the Syrian capital, Damascus, located far away from the border In line with the government approval, the UNHCR has recently established store-houses to keep the supplies and stop taking the long road to Damascus from the borders with Jordan.
Al-Kurdi said among the delivered items were 25,000 blankets, 10,000 bamboo rugs, kitchen utensils and bottles of water, destined for Syrians in need for aid particularly in the south of the country.
He added that with the establishment of the new stores, humanitarian supplies will be easily secured for more than half a million relocated Syrians in southern Syria
