Luxor Governor Mohamed Badr said on Thursday that he traveled to Paris along with representatives from travel agencies to discuss ways of increasing French tourist arrivals to the ancient pharaohs’ capital.
During a meeting with French officials, the governor said he discussed operating direct airlines between Luxor and French airports.
Speaking to MENA, the governor added he took part in the Smart Countries & Cities Congress in Paris (S3C) at an invitation from the French side.
S3C is the grand event and get-together of key decision makers of cities, regions and countries, as well as industry experts and leading institutions.
The governorate of Luxor is mulling over plans to use solar energy to maintain the climate at the ancient city, Badr said.
Luxor is expected to host the next Pioneer Leaders conference, in which at least 1,500 travel agencies will take part, he added.
It is also agreed that the British Royal Opera House would organize a week-long festival to present renowned music shows, he added.
