At least twenty-two people have been killed and several admitted in different hospitals after using toxic cough syrup in the city of Gujranwala in east Pakistan, said local officials on Friday. More than thirty people were admitted in different hospitals in that city, located in Punjab province, after using the toxic cough syrup Thursday night, a local senior government official Anjum Ahmed told KUNA. He said twenty-two persons have died of the poisonous syrup and more than ten are still being treated at different hospitals. He said that police has launched an operation to arrest the factory owners, who manufactured the syrup under fake labels
