Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested Tuesday 10 South Korean nationals suspected to be involved in an illegal online gambling operation in the Philippines, a police official said Wednesday. PNP Anti-Cyber Crime Group chief Senior Supt. Gilbert Roa said the suspects were nabbed after police raided a posh condominium in Taguig City in the Philippines' capital region of Metro Manila. Roa said police recovered assorted passbooks, assorted mobile phones, identification cards, assorted documents, laptops, network devices, telephone sets, desktop computers and assorted cards believed to be used in their illegal activities. He said the suspects are believed to be operating an illegal online gambling business patronized by Korean bettors who make payments online or via credit card. Police said it launched the operation after the International Criminal Police Organization, International Police South Korea requested the Philippine government in Dec. 2012 to locate eight Korean fugitives involved in illegal online gambling. However, only two of the eight wanted by the Interpol were arrested during the operation. They were identified as Lee Youn Ju and Jin Ho Lee.
