Turkish police announced on Friday that it has arrested 15 individuals in connection with the anti-government protests, which took place in several Turkish cities in June, in a raid on a number of houses around the country. This morning, the police raided 15 houses located in five cities; Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Manisa, and Batman, Turkish security directorate said in a statement, adding the detainees were members of an illegal leftist organization. Also, the detainees are to be questioned by the police before being transported to the court, the statement indicated, noting that they had played an important role during the anti-demonstrations. The arrests campaign come one day following Turkish court\'s ruling against the Taksim Square development project, which triggered anti-government demonstrations that rattled the country over the past month, citing that citizens were not consulted about this project.
