Israel is holding some 165 Palestinian prisoners without trial after stepping up a campaign of arrests under the so-called administrative detention procedure, according to Palestinian sources. Palestinian Prisoners Club secretary Ragheb Abu Diyak said in a statement issued here on Saturday that the number of administrative detainees was rising and the Israeli prison authorities had extended their jail terms without presenting any charges or citing legal grounds. He said the detainees had embarked upon a series of steps, including boycotting Israeli courts, to protest their incarceration, and urged all Palestinians to stand in solidarity with them.
