Arrested suspect of the recent Bangkok blast

Two men including a Turkish national were arrested Saturday in connection with last week's deadly bomb attack in Bangkok, the Japanese news agency Kyodo reported, quoting police and informed sources.

The Turk was arrested at his apartment in northern Bangkok's Nong Chok district on suspicion of involvement in the preparation of the bomb that exploded at Erawan Shrine on Aug. 17, Thai national police chief Somyot Pumpunmuang told reporters.

The authorities detected traces of an explosive substance on his clothes, and packs of ball bearings were found in his apartment, according to sources close the investigation. The man, who had been under surveillance since Friday, was taken to Nong Chok police station for questioning.
