Two 18-year-old Montrealers have been arrested over fears they will commit a terrorist act, Le Journal de Montreal reported Thursday.

Sabrine Djaermane and Mahdi el Jamali appeared in Montreal courthouse and will remain in custody until Monday.

"Charges haven't been laid yet," the Crown prosecutor said, adding that there could be developments in the coming days.

No details about the allegations have been released.
