Two hundred and twenty refugees from sub-Saharan Africa arrived in Italy Thursday morning, adding to the almost 1,000 asylum seekers who came Wednesday, The Washington Post reported.

Many of them have scabies, presenting a challenge to Italian health officials.

This past weekend, about 850 fell to their deaths in the sea between lawless Libya and Italy - the worst single death toll among refugees trying to cross the Mediterranean.
