As many as three defence personnel were killed when a helicopter belonging to the Indian Navy crashed near the naval airfield in the south-western state of Goa, Monday, confirmed Navy Pubic Relations Officer (PRO) Commander P.K. Prabhala. The ill-fated chopper was on a routine sortie when it crashed near the naval airfield at Dabolim in the state. The chopper was flying from Mumbai city to Bangalore city (in southern state of Karnataka) and had stopped at Dabolim airport for refuelling. According to Prabhala, the helicopter caught fire soon after the crash. A board of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the crash has been ordered.
