Four Chinese maritime surveillance vessels entered Japanese territorial waters Monday near the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, the Japan Coast Guard said. Meanwhile, four fishing boats carrying members of a Japanese rightwing political group as well as Japanese lawmakers left Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture, for the disputed islands Sunday evening, according to (Kyodo) news agency. The intrusion of Chinese ships was the first since June 27 and 50th since the Japanese government purchased part of the uninhabited island group last September, according to the coast guard.
