Sixty Five candidates, including only a woman, submitted their candidacy papers as the candidates registration started for the upcoming parliamentary elections, slated for July 27. The candidates are distributed as follows: 10 candidates in the first constituency; 6 in the second constituency; 11 for the third constituency; 21 for the fourth constituency; and 17 for the fifth constituency. In the run for December 2012 elections, only 29 candidates, including one woman, applied for the election in the first day of registration. Then the candidates were distributed as follows: 7 in the first constituency; 5 in the second constituency; 4 in the third constituency; 10 in the fourth constituency; and 3 in the fifth constituency. In the run for February 2012, 109 candidates, including six women, presented their candidacy papers in the first day of the candidate registration. The candidates were distributed as follows: 31 in the first constituency; 25 in the second constituency; 20 in the third constituency; 17 in the fourth constituency; and 16 in the fifth constituency. Under Kuwait\'s electoral laws, parliament hopefuls have ten days to sign up their names for the elections. Kuwait has 435,000 eligible voters who elect a 50-member parliament for a four-year term.
