Ramallah - MENA
President Mahmoud Abbas discussed Saturday with Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird the peace process and political developments in the region, WAFA reported. Abbas, who received Baird at his office in Ramallah, reiterated his commitment to peace based on international law and the two-state solution to establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital. He emphasized the importance of stopping settlement activities and releasing prisoners arrested before the signing of the Oslo accords in 1993 in order to bolster efforts aiming to break the deadlock in the peace process.
