A commando unit of the Afghan National Army has gunned down five militants including their commander in eastern Laghman province.

Sarhadi Zwak, spokesman for the governor of Laghman province said that the insurgents were killed during a security operation in Sangara Valley of Alingar District this morning, according to Khaama News Agency on Monday.

Zwak identified the Taliban commander as Gul Khan.

Taliban had not commented on the report by the time it was filed.

The man had previously participated in several terrorist attacks in this province.
