African Union Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma on Tuesday deeply regretted attacks on peacekeepers serving in the joint United Nations-African Union UNAMID mission in Darfur.

She cited two attacks on peacekeepers in the town of Kass in South Darfur over the weekend in which six troops were wounded.

She called for a fair investigation into the two attacks, the African union said in a statement obtained by MENA.

Since December 2007, when UNAMID was first mandated, a total of 61 peacekeepers have lost their lives in hostile action in Darfur, according to the UN.
