Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the Islamic republic will not retreat on its nuclear issue. Ahmadinejad says if Iran receives enriched uranium with a purity of 20-percent, the country will not produce it on its own, as it is costly. He says Iran has asked other countries to provide it with 20-percent enriched uranium as the fuel for medicine production, and is ready to exchange 3.5-percent enriched uranium for it. However, the president says so far nobody has taken up the request. The 20-percent enriched uranium issue has been the most essential topic during the past several rounds of nuclear talks. The West has demanded Iran give up producing 20-percent enriched uranium, but Iran insists it has the right to do so, adding its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
