Air France's Boeing 777 airliner heading from Paris to Beijing made an emergency landing at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport on Monday due to apparent engine failure, Sputnik reported.

The airliner was carrying 269 passengers, according to a source in the local emergency services.

"On 5 pm GMT, the Boeing 777 landed at Pulkovo," the source said, adding that "the preliminary cause is the failure of one of its engines".
