Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi stressed the importance of the measures taken by the government to confront the economic challenges and enhance the capabilities of the national economy. During the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, al-Halqi said that Syria has large supplies and reserves of different materials that are sufficient to meet the country's needs for several months, adding that "Anyone who thinks that the Syrian Pound could collapse is mistaken." Premier al-Halqi highlighted the attacks committed by the armed terrorist groups against the roads and highways used to transport oil, petroleum and gas. "The priority of the government is securing the needs of citizens, eliminating the terrorist groups and restoring security and stability," he said. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem, made a political presentation on the developments on the regional and international arenas. For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Qadri Jamil, highlighted the measures taken by the ministry to provide the citizens with all basic needs. The cabinet approved several laws, including the amendment of articles of the Legislative Decree No 114 for the year 2011 on establishing a fund for reducing impacts of drought and natural disasters on the agricultural production.
