Iraq's Parliament Speaker Salim al Jabouri has underlined the importance of promoting Iraqi-US cooperation in the fields of training and armament.

He underscored also the need to maintain security in the areas freed from the control of Daesh terrorist group.

These remarks came during a meeting held between al Jabouri and US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad on Thursday.

For his part, Carter underlined the US support to Iraq in its war against Daesh.

The get-together took up the latest developments in Iraq and the region as well as the efforts of the international coalition in the war against this extremist group.
