Albanian Police seized on Wednesday night 30 illegal immigrants from Syria in the city of Gjirokaster in southern Albania, local media reported. "The immigrants were blocked in the vicinity of Bula village, 10 kilometers off the Gjirokaster city," the Albian Telegrahic Agency quoted police sources as saying. The sources said the immigrants were traveling from Greece and were heading for Italy. Border authorities in Gjirokaster have seized over 1,600 illegal immigrants, mostly from Afghanistan, Iraq, Tunisia, Syria and Palestine, so far this year.
