Algiers - APS
Algerian authorities, at the highest level, have shown a strong political will and a firm determination in fighting corruption, according to many observers. Corruption is a crime damaging public funds and harming national economy, hence the need to develop new devices to boost state efforts and those made by civil society. The phenomenon has taken on alarming proportions over the past few years in terms of cases brought before courts and economic loss, observers said. The government has promulgated several laws, including the law of 2006, and amended some provisions in the Code of Criminal Procedure, relating to investigations into such cases.
