Former President Amin Gemayel denounced in a statement from Paris Friday the vicious attack on the Lebanese army in Arsal, which represents the sovereignty of the state and the dignity of its sons. He called upon the people of Arsal who have experienced institutional vacuum to deal with the military establishment as a protector, guardian, first line of defense and the last resort of the state. "[The army] is above all suspicions or [political] accounts." Gemayel offered his condolences to the fallen martyrs and wished a hasty recovery for the wounded.
