A Turkish cargo ship came under artillery attack off Libya shores, Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement today.

A Turkish citizen, was killed. Some of the crew members were wounded and material damage occurred in the ship, the statement added.

The was subjected to artillery file from land while it was sailing in international waters, 21 kilometers off Tobruk.

The Turkish foreign ministry strongly denounced the 'heinous attack' towards a civilian ship in international waters and condemned those who carried it out.
