The Arab Lawyers Union slammed the US and EU for what it termed "their interference" in Egypt's internal affairs. In a statement, the chairman of the union Saber Amer said the unprecedented turnout in the constitutional referendum in Egypt showed the people's trust in their rulers. The vote represents a key milestone in a road map that was announced in the wake of the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July. The two-day vote is seen a heavy blow to the Muslim Brotherhood as the new charter, if it passed, would replace the constitution passed by Morsi's Islamist allies.
