The Council of the Arab League held a closed session Thursday to discuss the outcome of a meeting between Arab ministers and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on means to revive peace process in the middle east.

The permanent representatives to the pan-Arab body discussed ideas and initiatives raised by Fabius to be floated in the UN Security Council in the coming months on the Palestinian-Israeli issue, said Arab League's Deputy Secretary General for Palestinian affairs Mohammed Sobeih.

Arab states welcome efforts exerted under the umbrella of the Arab Peace Initiative, Sobeih made it clear, adding that the Arab states had many questions over the French suggestions.

The French minister suggested a 18-month timetable for Israelis and Palestinians to agree on a two-state solution, he added.
