The Arab League on Sunday welcomed the Vatican's decision to recognize the state of Palestine.

Assistant Secretary for Palestine and the occupied Arab territories at the Arab League, Ambassador Mohammad Sabih, said the decision was "not a coincidence." He added that the number of countries that have recognized Palestine reached 136 so far , exceeding the number of countries that have recognized Israel since its establishment.
