General Nabil el-Araby

Secretary-generals of the Arab League (AL) Nabil El Araby, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif Al Zayani on Sunday held a consultative session in New York.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Observer Mission of the OIC to the United Nations.

Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union Habib Ben Yahia was scheduled to take part in the meeting but he was not able to join the session for an emergency.

An AL statement said that the session, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting of the United Nations, was meant to review several issues, including coordinating positions towards a move to support the Palestinian cause and the latest developments in some Arab countries, along with the refugees and displaced people crisis in the Arab region.

A fourth consultative meeting is agreed to be held on the sidelines of the 27th session of the Arab League Council, slated for March 2016 in Morocco.
