The Arab League

The Arab League (AL) welcomed Wednesday UN Special Representative for Libya Bernardino Leon's efforts to bring the Libyan rivals together and sign a deal on September 20.

In its 144 session on Wednesday, the AL praised the dialogue between the Libyan factions, the latest developments achieved in this regard, and ongoing contacts to conclude the joint Arab defense treaty.

The Libyan diplomatic mission in Cairo drew up a bill, to be introduced to the Arab foreign ministers during their meeting at the AL on Sunday, on the necessity of respecting the unity and sovereignty of the Libyan soil, abiding by the political dialogue, and renouncing violence.

The pan-Arab body reiterated its condemnation to heinous crimes perpetrated by the terrorist Daesh group in Sirte and other Libyan cities, as well as support to all the legitimate and constitutional institutions in the North African country, especially the Council of Deputies and its government, in the face of terrorism.
