French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius

An Arab ministerial committee aimed at ending the Israeli occupation, under Egypt, is scheduled to meet with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Cairo Saturday.

The committee was formed following a decision by the recent Arab summit in Sharm El Sheikh that was headed by Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

Shoukry will receive Fabius on Saturday to discuss ways to promote bilateral relations in the various fields, along with regional and intentional issues of mutual concern, especially the Middle East peace process, the Libyan crisis and the situation in Syria and Yemen.

Fabius' visit to the Middle East aims to launch an initiative to bring Israel and the Palestinians back to peace talks under an international framework amid growing regional instability.
