Speaker of Arab Parliament Ahmed Al-Jarwan has commended Sweden's step in upgrading Palestine's diplomatic representation in Stockholm from a mission to an embassy.
"Sweden is the first EU member to officially recognize the Palestinian State; a move which indicates the volume of support by Sweden and its government to rights of the Palestinian people, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, and the Palestinian people's right in determining their destiny and establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital," Al-Jarwan said in a press statement in the Egyptian capital Wednesday.
"Once again, Arab Parliament, on behalf of all Arab people, express most gratitude and appreciation to the government and people of Sweden for their noble stands, which were supportive to international legitimacy and human rights without any discrimination or segregation," said Al-Jarwan.
He expressed hope that Stockholm and Arab World would extend their friendship and cooperation in all major fields, for the sake of Arab and Swedish people's interest.
