Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi called on the Arab justice ministers' council to protect the independence of the judiciary in the Arab world as a guarantee for respecting rights and freedoms. Addressing the 8th meeting of the council on Monday, Arabi said priority should be given to fighting corruption and retrieving looted funds, especially in Arab countries going through political transition. He also underlined the need to boost joint Arab action to address human rights violations.
