Public Works and Transportation Minister, Ghazi Aridi, highlighted the dire need for a serious solution to the weapons' issue in various Lebanese areas. He added that Tripoli is an underprivileged city that has suffered a lot of pain and deprivation; hence, it is high time that a solution to its tight economic and social problems is reached. Aridi's words came following his visit to former Prime Minister Omar Karameh, congratulating him on the safety of his son, Cabinet Minister Faisal Karameh, following the recent attempt on his life. Aridi relayed the greetings and well-wishes of National Struggle Front Head, MP Walid Jumblatt. He praised herein the courageous, national and wise stand by Karameh Family in containing the incident and avoiding any statements or reactions that would be harmful to national consensus and stability. Several other officials called on Karameh on Saturday, congratulating him on his safety, including Cabinet Minister Marwan Kheireddine representing Lebanese Democratic Party Head, MP Talal Erslan. He also received several phone calls, namely from Information Minister Walid Daouk; Amal, Hizbollah, Change and Reform, Future and Kataeb Parliamentary Blocs and former Ministers Wiam Wahhab, Naji Boustani, Adnan Qassar and Yaacoub Sarraf, among other prominent figures.
