The Army said Wednesday that it detained three people suspected of having links to a safe house in north Lebanon filled with ammunition and hand grenades. In a statement, the military said it raided a residence Tuesday on the outskirts of the northern towns of Bireh and Rashaya and discovered large quantities of “light weaponry, hand grenades, ammunition, as well as military gear and communications equipment.” Soldiers carried out the raid after the Directorate of Army Intelligence received information regarding suspicious goings-on at the location. The Army also said that it subsequently detained three people on suspicion of being linked to the location, and confiscated their motorcycles. They have since been referred to the appropriate judiciary. The Daily Star
