Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received Friday the Iranian Majlis (parliament) speaker, Ali Larijani for talks on the situation in Syria. Addressing a press conference, Larijani stressed the importance of the Syrian role in the region, reiterating the need for democratic reform. Reform shall only be introduced through constructive dialogue, Larijani said, noting that militarizing the crisis will lead to shedding more blood. About the Palestinian issue, he praised the Palestinian resistance and added that Iran supports all Palestinian factions in their struggle.
