Assistant FM Ossama al-Magdoub

Assistant Foreign Minister for Neighboring Countries' Affairs Ossama Al Magdoub reviewed the developments in Libya with visiting U.S. State Department Special Envoy for Libya Jonathan Winer and US Ambassador to Egypt Stephen Beecroft.

The meeting also went over ways to render the ongoing UN dialogue on Libya a success and face the growing Daesh terrorism in Libya.

Both parties agreed on the necessity of continued coordination in support of the Libyan government and people.

In statements, the US envoy said he was happy with the current cooperation between Egypt and the US, affirming the importance of coordination between both countries with regard to supporting the Libyan national unity government, expected to be formed following reaching a UN-sponsored deal in this regard.

For his part, Magdoub said Cairo was looking forward to achieving stability in Libya, voicing hope for the next round of political dialogue in Morocco's Sukhairat.
