At least 500 prisoners escaped when militants assaulted two prisons in Iraq, sparking fierce clashes that lasted about 10 hours and killed dozens of people, MPs said on Monday. One MP said about 500 inmates had escaped from Abu Ghraib prison, while a second said that between 500 and 1,000 escaped between it and Taji prison, the second that was attacked.
