A stand-off between police and a man who claimed to have a car full of explosives in the town of Canungra in Australia's Queensland ended peacefully with the man surrendering to officers, local media reported Thursday. Police said the 37-year-old man was taken into custody at around 3.15 p.m. local time on Thursday. A number of roads in the township had been closed after the man contacted police, making it a bomb threat. Negotiators were called to Kidston St, Canungra at 5.15 a.m. local time on Thursday when the man barricaded himself in the car. Police had declared an exclusive zone, which has now been lifted. It's still unclear what sparked the incident and police investigations are continuing.
