Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb

Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb on Monday called for investigating the real reasons behind the joining of some European youths to Daesh terrorist group.

In statements after meeting with a number of representatives of European Union states, Tayyeb said Europe opened its doors to extremist youths who return from some countries to the European countries under the pretext of freedom after their homelands refused to receive them.

Tayyeb also warned against the threat of movements that confront people by weapons claiming it is affiliated to Islam.

He denied rumors in the western countries claiming that terrorist movements emerged from Islam.

The meeting was attended by 27 ambassadors led by European Union Ambassador in Cairo James Moran.

Moran lauded Azhar's efforts in maintaining stability, peace, tolerance and justice in Egypt and the whole world.
