Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa today welcomed the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of South Sudan. He stressed Bahrain’s stance as he met South Sudan’s Foreign Minister Deng Nhial Nhial, affirming the Kingdom’s resolve to build bridges and intensify cooperation on all fields with the Republic of South Sudan in the future. According to Bhrain News Agency the two sides signed a memorandum to establish diplomatic relations, on the sidelines of the 67th UN General Assembly session. Sheikh Khalid hailed Sudan and South Sudan for signing cooperation and security agreements on joint parameters and opting for dialogue, describing the breakthrough as a crucial step on the path of settling stalled conflicts and establishing constructive relations. The two ministers discussed issues featuring on the agenda of the 67th UN General Assembly session.
