The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the inappropriate and irresponsible statements made by the spokeswoman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the statements unacceptable and regards them as a blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This came when the Undersecretary of Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Hamad Ahmed Alamer, summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Mohammad Reza Babaei to ask him to convey Bahrain’s protests on the Iranian leadership hostile statements. Undersecretary Alamer stressed that such statements do not serve to improve relations and cause to increase tensions between the two countries, despite all the positive attitudes of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards the Islamic Republic of Iran at various times and at all levels. The Undersecretary of Regional and GCC Affairs also reiterated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has always worked to improve relations between the two countries yet the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown no response that helps to develop these relations in the right direction. He added that Bahrain invites Iran to desist from such statements that reflect negatively on relations between the two sides. (MOFA)
