UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Israel to return to the negotiating table with the Palestinians during a Security Council meeting on the Middle East, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Ban called on the next government to "adopt the two-state solution and take steps to renew negotiations, including a freeze on illegal construction in settlements. The two sides must show the determination and courage required to achieve peace."
