A joint team led by Bangladesh Army seized huge arms and ammunition from the country's southeastern Bandarban hill district after a gunfight with a band of criminals on Friday.
As part of maintaining peace and harmony in the Bandarban hill district, some 316 km southeast of capital Dhaka, the joint team raided the den of the terrorists that resulted in the gunfight.
The Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) of Bangladesh Army said in a statement on Friday that the forces seized a rifle, seven magazines, 222 rounds of ammunition, two grenades and several sets of military uniform after the gunfight.
According to the statement, the raid was conducted "to maintain peace and harmony" in Bandarban hill district.
It was not mentioned in the statement whether anyone was arrested following the gunfight incident which came about a week after two tourists and their local guides went missing in the district.
