Sudanese President Omar al Bashir

The current US visit by Ibrahim Ghandour, a close adviser to Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, is an important step in the dialogue between the two countries and shows progress in the two countries' relations, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Kirti said.
Speaking to Al-Maghar Asiysia newspaper, he said normalizing relations between the two countries is still off the agenda because there are many issues between the two countries.
He said the annual breakfast banquet hosted by the Obama administration lately was also an opportunity for talks with a number of senior US officials and congressmen.
As for the Egyptian-Sudanese higher committee meeting, he said the Egyptian and Sudanese leaders have agreed during their meeting in Addis Ababa on the importance of accelerating the convocation of the committee.
He stressed that there are no obstacles blocking the committee and it will convene soon.
