The head of Italy\'s main centre-left Democratic Party, Pier Luigi Bersani, was set to win a primary vote on Sunday for the nominee for prime minister but without a majority, according to early results. Bersani was ahead with 44.6 percent against 36.9 percent for his main rival, Florence mayor Matteo Renzi, meaning there would have to be a run-off between the two next Sunday ahead of a general election expected early next year.
