The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) board, management and staff sent a message of congratulations today to Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, who has been re-elected as President of the International Karting Commission (CIK). The re-election was confirmed Friday night at the Annual General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) held in Paris, France. Shaikh Abdulla, who is also the President of the Bahrain Motor Federation, enters his fourth successive year as the global chief of karting. He was first elected to the prestigious post in November of 2010. BIC Chairman of the Board Zayed R Alzayani expressed his delight over Shaikh Abdulla’s re-election. Alzayani said that it illustrates the trust the global motorsport family has in Bahrain and in its highest-ranking officials. Alzayani added: "Shaikh Abdulla has done so much for karting over the past few years as President of the CIK; it is only fitting that he continues in his role and further leads the grassroots level of motorsport to even higher highs." BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa commented: "Shaikh Abdulla’s achievements as CIK President are a testament to his hard work and dedication to his role and to karting. "We congratulate Shaikh Abdulla on his re-election. He continues to lead karting to never-before-seen levels of popularity and participation worldwide, and we greatly look forward to an even brighter future for the sport under his watch.
