The convicted murderer of former Bolivian Socialist Party leader Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruz has been captured 35 years after the act, authorities announced Monday, according to dpa.
Felipe Froilan Molina, a former para-military member, was taken into custody in his home in La Paz on Sunday, Interior Minister Carlos Romero said in a press conference. Approximately 80 police officers took part in the capture.
Molina, alias El Killer, was convicted in absentia in 2007 and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
On July 17, 1980, during a coup led by General Luis Garcia Meza, Quiroga Santa Cruz was severely injured as he was being abducted and then later killed at a military garrison.
