A convicted Bosnian man on Wedneday sought reduced prison term for shooting at the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo in 2011. Mevlid Jasarevi, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison, apologized for his role in the shooting at an appeal court. "I truly apologize for any trouble that my acts have caused to anyone," said 25-year-old Jasarevi. Jasarevi shot at the U.S. embassy with an automatic rifle on Oct. 28, 2011, seriously injuring a local police officer. He was found guilty on terrorist charges and sentenced to 18 years in prison in December, 2012. Defense lawyers, however, argued that the penalty was too harsh as Jasarevi had no intention to kill anyone during the incident. Jasarevi noted he had been manipulated by some of his friends at that time. The appeal court is to give a verdict next week.
