The trial of one of the accused in the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured over 200, began Wednesday in Boston, Massachusetts, official media reported.
Dzhokar Tsarnaev, a Chechen-born, is one of three charged with 30 counts, of which over a half could lead him to death sentence, including use of weapons of mass destruction made of a pressure cooker bombs filled with nails and shrapnel, according to CNN.
The two other accused, including Tsarnaev's brother, were killed in a fire exchange with the police four days after the bombing.
It took nearly two months to select a jury for the trial following several requests to change the venue of the trial due to some racial issues raised by Tsarnaev's attorneys, the international news network said.
The accused's defense argued that all 18 members of the jury were middle-aged whites, with only one of different racial background, according to CNN.
