Energy Secretary Ed Davey on Tuesday said he hadgranted permission to French firm EDF to construct Britain\'s firstnew nuclear plant in a generation, according to dpa.The plant, the first of several planned, is to be built at Hinkley Point in Somerset, south-west England, and will eventually supply around seven per cent of the country\'s electricity.
