The campaign for the closure of Nehme garbage dump held on Sunday a press conference at the entrance to the dump to affirm its commitment to continue its sit-in despite threats by Sukleen to leave garbage on the streets of Beirut and Mount Lebanon.Sukleen announced on Saturday that it will suspend collecting garbage in both governorates."Threats not to collect garbage from the streets of Beirut will not make us reconsider our position," said officials of the Campaign as they called on President Michel Sleiman to support them.They held faltering Cabinet policies responsible for the deteriorating state things have come to.Campaign officials stated that recycling was the only solution to this 16 year old health problem which threatened the lives of Nehme residents. They held that this move was in the best interest not only of Nehme residents but every citizen in Lebanon.
